When Would I Need a Sleep Apnea assessment?

  • If your partner notices that you stop breathing while sleeping.
  • If you wake up gasping for air.
  • If you wake up feeling anxious.
  • If your partner complains of your snoring.
  • If you have trouble controlling your weight.
  • If you fall asleep or nod off waiting for a traffic light to change or watching TV.
  • If you grind your teeth.

If you or your sleeping partner suffer from chronic loud snoring, you should schedule a sleep apnea consultation immediately. Although snoring can be common, any concerns should be discussed with Dr. Olah.

What is the process like?

Call and set up a free consultation with Dr. Olah and her staff. She will have you fill out a questionnaire and then do a comprehensive head and neck exam.  She will follow her exam with a series of questions related to your sleep patterns, concerns and overall well-being. Based on her findings and your input she will recommend the next step for you. If she has any concern that you may have a sleep disorder she will recommend you have a sleep study test that can be interpreted by a physician. The physician will diagnose your condition based on the findings of your sleep test. Dr. Olah will go over her recommendations and help you understand the test results and your options. Your options will most likely be a CPap or an oral appliance. Dr. Olah can have your oral appliance made, deliver it and adjust it. She will follow up on your progress as time passes. If the CPap is recommended you can go to your family physician or to Beverly Hills Sleep Center where the Dr. will help you pick out the most effective CPap machine and mask.

Does insurance cover Sleep Apnea?

We work with Complete Sleep, a third party medical billing service. Before you even take your sleep test at home, Complete Sleep will send a pre-estimate form to your insurance company. Once they receive the results they will call you and let you know if you are covered. They will also let you know if there will be any out of pocket expenses. They have done an amazing job so far for us and our patients. Having met your yearly deductible helps. However, do not be discouraged if you haven’t.
